A fully funded opportunity to validate the safety and performance of ambient voice technology

Helping NHS trusts adopt AI with confidence

Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) is transforming clinical practice, reducing administrative burden, improving documentation and giving clinicians more time to focus on patient care. As adoption accelerates across the NHS, organisations increasingly need evidence that these technologies are performing safely, consistently and effectively in real-world clinical settings.

The CLEARvalidate Programme has been developed to provide that assurance.

Delivered through the National CLEAR Programme, this fully funded pilot will support five NHS trusts to implement CLEARvalidate across up to three clinical specialties over a six-month period, generating robust evidence to support the safe, responsible adoption of AI.

What is CLEARvalidate?

CLEARvalidate is a vendor-neutral clinical safety and assurance platform designed specifically for the NHS.

Rather than simply reporting activity, it continuously evaluates the performance of ambient voice technology by analysing factors such as:

  • Audio quality
  • Transcription accuracy
  • Clinical meaning
  • Documentation quality

The platform provides actionable insights that help organisations identify potential risks early, strengthen clinical governance and continuously improve the quality and safety of AI-generated clinical documentation.

What’s included?

  • Participating organisations will receive:
  • Fully funded implementation, onboarding and six months’ use of CLEARvalidate
  • Deployment across up to three clinical specialties
  • A tailored evaluation framework aligned to local priorities and governance requirements
  • Ongoing clinical, technical and programme support throughout the pilot
  • A comprehensive and easy-to-use dashboard demonstrating safety, quality and organisational impact
  • Tailored recommendations to mitigate risks and continuously improve the safety, quality and overall performance of ambient voice technology.
  • Support to develop an evidence-based business case for sustainable, long-term adoption where measurable impact is demonstrated

Expected benefits

Participating trusts will:

  • Strengthen clinical safety and governance
  • Generate objective evidence on the performance of ambient voice technology
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality and user adoption
  • Support education and continuous improvement
  • Build confidence among clinicians, digital teams and organisational leaders
  • Contribute to national learning on the safe, responsible adoption of AI across the NHS

Who should apply?

We are inviting expressions of interest from NHS trusts that are committed to the safe, effective and evidence-based adoption of ambient voice technology and are looking to strengthen assurance as AVT becomes embedded within routine clinical care.
