CLEAR Apprenticeship Programme – EOI now open for North West region
An apprenticeship that ends with a service improvement, not just a qualification
The CLEAR Apprenticeship Programme is a Level 4 Business Analyst apprenticeship built for the NHS. Your staff will acquire the skills to run an AI-enabled clinical audit on a service you choose, then turn the findings into an improvement your trust can implement.

Find out how the programme works, what it asks of your trust and what you get from it, and put your questions to the team. We recommend executive sponsors attend with their apprenticeship, education and clinical audit leads.
How it works
CLEAR Intelligence uses AI to analyse free-text clinical records, such as letters and reports, at scale alongside coded data. It shows what dashboards alone cannot.
- Months 1–6: the audit. Your apprentices run a CLEAR Intelligence audit on a priority service, supervised by the CLEAR team.
- Months 7–12: transformation. They turn the findings into an implementation proposal with options, costs and a benefits plan.
- After gateway: assessment. They complete the detailed proposal and end-point assessment, typically within three months.
What your trust gets
- A quality-assured audit report on the service you choose
- An implementation proposal ready for your approval route
- A team of qualified, AI-capable staff who can run the complex data audits again
Who can take part
The first cohort is open to NHS trusts in the North West. You will need an executive sponsor, a team of 5 to 20 suitable staff, and Growth and Skills Levy for the next levy year. Learners need around 6 hours a week for off-the-job learning, including a monthly workshop day.
The programme suits staff close to service change and data, such as clinical audit, service improvement, informatics and operational leads. The EOI form sets out the full commitments.
